Join us December 7, 2021 from 7:45-2:30 for Cooper Power Systems Engineering Day and Earn 3 CEU's!
Where: Cooper Electric - 315 Cranbury Half-Acre Road, Cranbury NJ 08512
Schedule:
7:45am
– 8:30am: Light Breakfast Sign in
Presenter Rumman Kabir/KOHLER POWER SYSTEMS.
8:30
– 9:30 Alternator Basics and Data Sheet Review - 1 PDH (60
minutes)
Alternators
are an integral part of the backup generator set. There are complex forces
and variables at play that are both intriguing and useful to understand.
Some of these dictates why alternators are built the way they
are, others determine how to ensure safety by
properly applying protective devices. Alternator data sheets are
also complex and inconsistent between manufacturers. This course aims
to simplify the inner workings of the alternator and point out the
key alternator data sheet items to understand.
9:45
– 10:45 Generator Enclosure Basics, Considerations, and Options - 1 PDH (60
minutes)
Enclosures
can be a critical component of your backup power system. In this presentation,
we explore the basic properties, types, and optional components of a generator
enclosure. We will also look at the codes and standards that guide both the
design and installation of enclosures.
Presenter Manny Mule/KOHLER POWER SYSTEMS:
11
– 12 Sizing 101: Basics and Sizing Tool - 1 PDH (60
minutes)
Generators
have several factors that need to be considered when appropriately sizing for a
project other than the summation of kW. We will investigate how various
parameters of the project (ambient conditions, load details, stepping, code
requirements etc.) must all be considered
when optimally sizing a generator set. We will illustrate using
Kohler Power Solutions Center how implementing certain design
criteria can help reduce the kW rating specified.
12:00
– 1:00 Lunch
1:15:
- 2:30 Generator Demonstration and
Maintenance Overview
Cooper Technician
will demonstrate operation of the Facilities Kohler 2000kw Generator Set.
Jason Frommer/Service Manager will provide a Maintenance Overview.
